ledgers

a ledger, kerfed and ready to install

august, 2021
After taking a break from the boat project for the better part of the spring and summer, I got back to work on the framing by working on the ledgers.
The ledgers are the bits of framing that run along the side panels between the frames to create the final supporting edge for the plywood decking.
Each ledger was kerfed (the notches seen in the left photo) to allow them to bend and form to the curved sides of the boat.
These ledgers were a deceptively large amount of work, there were 20 of them to cut and fit, and of course, because it's a boat everything was curved and angled meaning there was a fair bit of thinking involved, too!
