non-slip surfacing

I used a spray can and an exact to keep the radii on the corners consistent

This was another extremely enjoyable weekend project. Non-slip surfacing is very important on the river as river silt has the tendency to turn any semi-smooth surface into a slip-n-slide, no good when you're trying not to get flung overboard or eat it stepping on and off the boat.

Creating the non-slip texture was very simple and required only two ingredients: Kirby Paint and river sand. After masking off the areas I wanted to give the non-slip treatment, I applied a layer of paint and then sifted my super-fine sand over the painted area. I let it dry overnight and used an air compressor to blast off the excess sand before applying a second layer of paint to seal in the sand. Then I peeled off the masking tape and goodbye slipping hazard!
